What you can expect

The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring efficient business transactions in the ERP system and driving accounts payable processes and treasury management. The accountant will be the key lead in preparation of the statutory reports as well as liaising with internal and external auditors. Duties will include the following:

  •     Be responsible for implementation of the B2R Guideline for BASF Djibouti
  •     Be responsible for compliance with global BASF Finance standards and the technical accuracy of the CO Module
  •     Checking validity of invoices including invoice number, date of invoice, VAT number, to whom the invoice has been addressed (specific company in question), currency and amounts
  •     Matching invoices to purchase orders and posting of invoices
  •     Creation of new vendors in PASTIS web and banks
  •     Adhering to the P2P policy and procedures (Ensuring vendor adherence to the invoice process)
  •     Demonstrate a clear understanding of SAPBI modules required
  •     Preparing creditor’s reconciliations and performing various bank reconciliations ensuring no long-standing items
  •     Conducting correction journals preparation as per the guideline and to be filed manually and attached to the actual SAPB1 document
  •     Ensure BNG/GNB follow up with the team and helping with the corrections
  •     Setting up and executing the cost cycle distribution for month end reporting
  •     Own and lead month-end & year-end closing process, prepare timely& complete financial reports that includes TB, P&L and BS
  •     Ensure optimization of local processes for cost accounting
  •     Own and drive General Ledger maintenance to ensure accuracy and completeness of all entries in SAPB1
  •     Perform timeous preparation of General Ledger Reconciliations
  •     Perform Fixed Asset accounting including depreciation computation, annual verification, and reconciliation
  •     Preparation and submission of relevant taxes i.e. VAT & PAYE
  •     Ensure cash flow management by preparing monthly forecasts and ensuring accounts are well funded to meet operational needs
  •     Advise other Finance colleagues on Financial and Business Reporting topics
  •     Follow-up on updates of global BASF Guidelines (Rule Base subscription)

What we expect

  •     A degree in Accounting or Finance
  •     Certified Public Accountant or equivalent qualifications
  •     Minimum 2 -5 years experience in a general accounting role
  •     Well skilled in SAPB1 and Excel
  •    Ability to communicate in French will be an added advantage

2.      Operations Assistant/Warehouse Operator – Deadline: 11/08/2021

What you can expect

The successful incumbent will be responsible for processing orders into the FTZ, warehousing and inventory management, processing orders and arranging dispatch activities. Duties will include the following:

  •     Loading and offloading finished products onto trucks, containers, and tankers and arrange to move materials to warehouse storage.
  •     Be in charge of receiving and dispatching items and make sure stocks are identical (physical & SAP system).
  •     Be in charge of overall warehouse organization and housekeeping (Safety & Housekeeping, legal compliance, keep area neat and tidy, and assist in minimizing environmental impact).
  •     Be in charge of executing SAP B1 entries related to warehouse tasks.
  •     To stock and maintain warehouse inventory (Physical & in SAP system).
  •     Be responsible for quality control (Ensure no damaged product is sent out and no damaged material is accepted in).
  •     Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  •     Be responsible for enforcing EHSQ aspects in warehouse and establish strict adherence to BASF safety standards.
  •     Maintain an acceptable small remaining risk in all operations.
  •     Clean and maintain warehouse / storage area.
  •     Use the forklift according correct load and using according the instruction (safe forklift operation SOP).
  •     The work that must be operated in accordance with safe operating.
  •     Coordinated with maintenance technician for arrange & record preventive maintenance (PMs) on forklift and complete the forklift checklist daily.

What we expect

  •     Relevant high-school qualification (preferred) or equivalent qualification
  •     1-2 years’ experience in Warehouse Operator & Forklift driver
  •     Microsoft excel knowledge
  •     Fluent English (written and oral)
  •     Forklift driving License – Forklift certification operation is preferred

Officer- Customs (External Statistics) – Deadline: 14/07/2021

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for undertaking:

  • Key performance indicators (customs) and
  • Overall revenue performance analysis (customs).

Key Responsibilities / Duties / Tasks

  • Maintain data base on policy changes for customs and estimating revenue impact,
  • Generate and compilation customs statistics to assist in research and planning activities,
  • Analyze and interpret revenue statistics and provide insights on performance and mitigating strategies.
  • Prepare revenue performance report(s) (customs Statistics),
  • Ensure regular update and improvement of Customs Key Performance indicators,
  • Assist the research section in improving the KRA revenue forecasting model(customs), by provision of requisite data,
  • Participate in the preparation of the Annual Customs Revenue Report.

Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Economics & Statistics

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies

  • Training in Computer Packages, Advanced Excel and Customs Administration would be an added advantage.

Previous relevant work experience required.
