1.     Radio Programmes Manager

RE: RAD/01/07/2021

The Role:

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Radio Programmes Manager will be responsible for developing, directing and controlling the vision, mission, goals, strategies, policies and processes for the Radio Services Department in line with market dynamics and KBC’s Corporate strategies, targets, obligations, regulations and approved procedures.

Specific Terms:

Three (3) years renewable contract subject to good performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting Departmental goals, performance targets, positioning strategies and work plans for the Department in line with the Corporate Strategic Plan, Board and Management resolutions and other public interest, commercial and other strategic considerations
  • Interpreting and implementing Corporate goals and strategies within the Department
  • Formulating and implementing approved Radio programmes and Radio Stations’ strategic plans
  • Principal accounting and advising officer on all radio matters within the Department
  • Budgeting and accounting for the Department’s expenditure
  • Facilitating Radio broadcasts and programme services
  • Formulating and implementing approved Radio Services proposals, concepts, pilots and programmes based on budget projections, value and relevance
  • Responsible for compliance with KBC’s Content Policy and House Style
  • Conducting staff performance appraisals and coordinating continuous improvement initiatives in the Department
  • Responsible for the overall discipline, appraisal, development and performance of staff in the Department.

Minimum Requirements:

Educational Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Broadcast Journalism, Social Sciences or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  2. Master’s degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage
  3. Must be a registered member of a recognized and regulated professional body.
  4. Professional Requirements
  5. Degree or Diploma in Radio Production, Mass Communication or Broadcast Journalism.

Minimum Experience

  • Ten (10) years relevant working experience
  • Must have served in a senior position in a reputable radio station
  • Must be conversant with contemporary and future trends and dynamics of the broadcast media industry.

2.     Senior Design Officer

REF: TVD/02/07/2021

The Role

Reporting to Chief Design Officer, the job holder will be responsible for coming up with design concepts that fit the client’s needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coming up with design concepts and execution that fit client’s needs
  • Following up on suppliers to ensure the brief is executed to detail and delivered to strict deadlines
  • Keeping abreast of emerging technologies in media (particularly design software and trends) through continuous research
  • Presenting options for design treatment
  • Execution of design projects as per deadlines and budget
  • Coordinating with technical crew, production & Advertising teams to graphically interoperate and execute projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Graphic Design with three years experience
  • Diploma or Higher Diploma Graphic Design with six years experience
  • Being a registered member of the Design Association of Kenya or design-related professional body would be an advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe creative suite, 3D animation software such as 3DMAX & Cinema 4D, NLE software such as Final Cut.
  • Digital media skills

  • Problem solving skills
  • IT Proficiency

3.     Manager Corporate Planning, Research and Development

RE: DD/01/07/2021

The Role:

Reporting to the Managing Director under Directorate Department, the Manager Corporate Strategy, Research and Development will be responsible for providing strategic direction on research, planning, and development of new projects, programs and innovative technology as well as the development and implementation of the Corporation strategic plans and processes.

Specific Terms:

Three (3) years renewable contract subject to good performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and development of strategic and long-range goals in co-ordination with senior management
  • Overseeing monitoring of the implementation and review of Strategic plan
  • Co-ordinating the development, implementation and monitoring of the Performance Contract with the Government
  • Responsible for research, planning and development of new and innovative technologies/programs/projects
  • Responsible for monitoring business climate, trends in technology and development
  • Collaborating with line managers to produce business and product work-plans that are profitable; evaluates these plans on a periodic basis
  • Coordinating the development of research surveys to assist in the identification of strategic/service delivery issues and performance expectations/achievements
  • Coordinating the analysis, preparation and continuously improve corporate reporting
  • Responsible for development and review of broadcast standards in acquisition, production and transmission of content in line with the applicable standards
  • Overseeing development and formal documentation of the Corporation’s processes, as well as monitoring improvement
  • Overseeing implementation of applicable ISO standards e.g. ISO 9001:2015 QMS, ISO 27001:2013 ISO ISMS

Minimum Requirements:

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, Economics, ICT, any social science or related field from a recognized institution
  • Masters degree in a related field  will be an added advantage
  • Must be a registered member of a recognized and regulated professional body

Minimum Experience

  • At least 10 years overall work experience in the Media Industry with 7 years in managerial role

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong influencing, interpersonal, analytical, negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to lead change management in a complex business environment
  • Analytical, communication, negotiation, problem solving and leadership skills.
