1.     Chairperson (County Audit Committee)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Setting the agenda for each meeting with the committee members
  • Providing oversight on risk management, controls and governance processes and audit affairs of the county government and make appropriate recommendations to the County Executive Committee regarding internal control and audit matters.
  • Following up on the implementation of the recommendations of internal and external auditors.
  • Arranging for a periodic review of the effectiveness of the audit committee alongside its mandate
  • Demonstrating independence and impartiality in decision making which accord with the legal constitutional and policy requirement
  • Providing clarification to members on the audit committee’s responsibilities
  • Performing any other duty that may be assigned by the Board

Requirements

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Possesses at least an undergraduate degree from a recognized university in the field in which she or he has been practicing
  • Satisfy the provisions of chapter six of the constitution
  • One shall not be a past or present employee of the entity, and shall not have served as an employee or agent of a business organization which has carried out any business with Nyeri County in the last two years.
  • Have at least 10 years of experience in a senior management position, where their scope of work covered the entire organization, they were working with.
  • Be a member, in good standing, of a professional body such as: IIA, ICPAK, ICPSK; IAK;APSEA;ACFE;LSK and any other relevant professional body.
  • Be and independent proactive leader with confidence and high integrity
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the object, principles and functions of the Government of Nyeri County.
  • Demonstrate competence in leadership and business management
  • Possess good understanding of government operations, financial reporting and auditing
  • Possess excellent working knowledge of audit committees’ functions and risks management framework
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and avail time to develop and monitor the committee agenda
  • Not a holder of a political office

 

 

2.     County Audit Committee Member

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Providing oversight on risk management, controls and governance processes and audit affairs of the County Government Committee regarding internal control and audit matters.
  2. Following up on the implementation of the recommendations of internal and external auditors.
  3. Performing any other duty that may be assigned by the board.

Requirements for appointment

  1. Be a Kenyan citizen
  2. Be a member, in good standing, of a professional body such as: IIA, ICPAK; CPSK, IAK; APSEA; ACFE; LSK and any other relevant professional body.
  3. Possess at least an undergraduate degree from a recognized university in the field in which she or he has been practicing
  4. One shall not be a past or present employee of the entity, and shall not have served as an employee or agent of a business organization which has carried out any business with Nyeri County in the last two years
  5. Have at least 5 years of experience in a senior management position, where their scope of work covered three entire organization they were working with.
  6. Demonstrate a knowledge and understand of the object, principles and functions of the government of Nyeri County
  7. Demonstrate competence in leadership and business management
  8. Possess a good understating of government operations, financial reporting and auditing.
  9. Not a holder of a political office.

Terms of service: 3 years contract on part time
Salary and benefits: Allowances will be paid as per the regulations by Salaries and Remuneration Commission

 

 

3.     Legal Officer (Legal Clerk Assistant)

The County Government of Nyeri wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following position:

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supporting the County Attorney in discharge of duties as assigned in respective technical unit
  2. Supporting and maintaining accurate filling and recording system and track file movement for efficient record management and record keeping
  3. Drafting contracts, lease agreements and memorandum of understanding between the county government and its
  4. Articulating county attorney’s position in meetings, seminars, negotiations and conventions.
  5. Initiating and undertaking research on complex and emerging issues
  6. Preparing legal opinions and briefs on behalf of the County government
  7. Researching different information to make sure the County government is acting in accordance with all applicable laws and offers recommendations on the same
  8. Drawing up and submitting service legal agreements, contracts, agreements and other legal documents in which the County government is a party
  9. Presenting information on a written or oral platform that all counsels and staff can understand
  10. Attending all monthly departmental and county meetings to ensure efficiency of the County functions.
  11. Supporting the designated county departments and agencies on legal matters
  12. Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements for appointment

  • Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized institution in Kenya.
  • Kenya School of Law Post Graduate Diploma
  • At least 1 year post admission experience
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Valid Practicing Certificate.

Remuneration: As per Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC)

Terms of Employment: Three (3) Years Contract

 

 

4.     Assistant Animal Health Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Participating in animal health field demonstrations and agricultural shows.
  2. Participating in sample collection and dispatch, inspecting livestock routes.
  3. Collecting data and writing technical reports.
  4. Demonstrating and training on milking techniques and external parasite control such as dipping, spraying and dusting.
  5. Carrying out vaccinations, closed castration, dehorning, ear tagging, branding, deworming, disbudding, docking, de-beaking and hoof trimming.
  6. Carrying out simple treatment of animals;
  7. Participating in animal disease research and reporting;
  8. Keeping records on animal breeding, animal health, milk production, dipping data,
  9. Maintaining dairy units and meat inspection
  10. Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements for Appointment

  1. Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health, Animal Health and Production, Veterinary Public Health and Meat Technology, Animal Production and Health Management or Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution in Kenya.
  2. Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board

 

 

5.     Senior Legal Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinating and facilitating research on legal issue to inform the advice provided by the legal department
  2. Coordinating and organizing appointments and meetings including meeting rooms.

  4. Ensuring implementation and realization of strategic plans and objectives in respect of the legal function.

  19. Attending all monthly departmental and county meetings to ensure efficiency of the County functions

Requirements for Appointment

  • Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized Institution in Kenya.
  • Kenya School of Law Post Graduate Diploma
  • At least 4 Years post admission experience
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Valid Practicing Certificate
  • Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution
  • Experience in legislative drafting and litigation shall be an added advantage.

Lead Mechanical Engineer – Kilifi – Deadline: 30/07/2021

About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer who will work on Sanergy’s existing breeding facility to implement key retrofits and design changes to the current operating facility. The position is based in Kilifi with considerable movement to Kinanie, Machakos constituency.

A typical day for you might include the following:

  • Lead a team of engineers to design, select and procure mechanical equipment packages to be used in organic waste bioconversion facilities
  • Analyse existing operations and propose new retrofits to increase efficiency and reduce the overall operational costs
  • Perform design calculations for various engineering problems
  • Review vendor drawings and provide technical feedback to ensure specifications are met
  • Review controls and/or electrical plans for various equipment
  • Review/Develop mechanical engineering deliverables (Specification sheets, GA drawings)
  • Provide engineering input to civil and architectural drawings
  • Shortlist potential vendors and request designs for quotation
  • Lead meetings with vendors and engineering consultants
  • Along with the vendor, perform factory acceptance testing, test and balance activities, and functional performance tests
  • Responsible for the technical quality and accuracy of work developed by the mechanical engineering team
  • Prepare operating guidelines commissioning test forms, equipment checklists and commissioning reports and maintain commissioning issues lists
  • Develop clear and transparent communication channels with other staff including Engineers, Project Manager, and Administration Staff.
  • Lead and manage the installation and commissioning of various industrial equipment
  • Troubleshoot system operational issues that impact system operation, safety, and reliability
  • Provide hands-on field expert level support for construction
  • Perform field inspections to ensure construction meets the design specifications

Skills and qualifications you’ll need:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering and design of processing units, equipment, waste treatment facility.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of how multi-disciplinary engineering team functions
  • Demonstrated working knowledge or interest in the operation of Boilers, Chillers, water treatment, Pumps, waste treatment and Control Systems is preferred.
  • Experience in operating factories in the waste sector is preferred
  • Experience in commissioning various mechanical and electrical systems
  • Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Sanergy in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team, set priorities, handle budgets and provide constructive feedback to junior members
